Videocon has associated itself
with cricket in a big way. The company has signed a contract with the
BCCI for the sponsorship of Tests and One Day Internationals in India
for a period upto May 2006. Videocon would be part of a consortium along
with Pepsi and TVS Motors to sponsor the matches.

It is another great milestone for the company and a death blow to all
aspirants for the deal as the spinning of this deal marks a major victory
for Videocon.
And to promote the association with cricket, the conglomerate has signed
on two international superstars Ricky Ponting and Stephen Fleming as
its international celebrity endorsers. With this Videocon has pulled
off a major coup! They would be endorsing Videocon’s extensive product
range of Colour TVs, Washing Machines, Refrigerators, Air Conditioners
and Microwave Ovens.

Explaining Videocon’s entry into cricket sponsorship, Mr. Tandon said
“We are not new to cricket. We had sponsored cricket events in the early
1990s and are very happy to be associated with Indian cricket again”.
On the decision to sign the international cricket stars, Mr. Tandon
said, “We are extremely pleased to have Mr. Ponting and Mr. Fleming,
associated with Videocon. They have always stood for Entertainment and
Excellence, two values that are at the core of Videocon.”
Videocon’s products are catering to various international markets making
it a truly Indian Multinational and who better than International stars
like Ricky Ponting and Stephen Fleming to communicate this message”.
By signing the deal with Asian Cricket Council, Videocon has scored
another six. The company is sponsoring three International cricket tournaments
featuring teams from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

With the 1st tournament in Colombo that features teams from the National
Cricket Academies, already on its way, Videocon has made a foray into
cricket at all levels. The 2nd features the Under-19 teams from the
three countries along with Bangladesh and will be played in Pakistan.
The 3rd tournament, to be played in India, would feature the ‘A’ teams.
